Physics doesn't work any differently at different levels. Mainstream physics may make it seem that way, but that's only because the field is now dominated by theoretical mathematicians who don't seem to have ever learned the lesson that while math may be TRUE, not all math is REAL. I don't know about now, but when I was in school, that was one of the first things our teacher demonstrated, giving the equations for a structure that is true, but impossible in the real world.
Physicists keep working on more and more exotic models that fit the data while ignoring the fact that they can't possibly be real, stating such ridiculous quotes as “Not only is the Universe stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think." No, it's not. You're just playing with math without any real understanding of the world around you. There are other models that are just as simple and understandable at subatomic levels as at the macro scale, but to even mention one of these models is HERESY to mainstream physics.
