True story. I was at the Apple World Wide Developer Conference. This was back when it was still at Moscone Center in San Francisco. The session had just gotten out, so everyone was piling onto the escalators. The escalators were packed! There was this young guy looking at his iPhone -- really his face was buried in it -- on the up escalator just several steps in front of me. Well, he stepped off the elevator on top, took just one step, then just stood there, transfixed. All of us just behind him started yelling at him, "Don't Stop!! Don't Stop!!" It could well have turned into a horrible accident where people got piled up on the escalator and started falling down the escalator steps. Somehow we all pushed and stumbled past him.
He was oblivious of it all, the entire time! I even turned around to talk to him. Completely oblivious. I just left and went to my next session.
