The paper you cite is mostly a mathematical model, and might well be correct. But in reality we know more about
the Nigerian scammers' usual victims, that is beyond them merely being wealthy bumblefucks. So you've missed an
opportunity to make the comic much more realistic. Please add the logical and factual next panel! It would be
something like:
"Talk about what?"
"About old age... Mental decline. How hard it is to keep up world that's changed more in the last ten years than your previous 70 -
technological naivety. Dementia. An entire world full of people targeting, and evolving ever better methods, to exploit your fears,
sentimentality, the habits of trust you've build up over a lifetime in a simpler world, unfamiliarity with tech,
and lessening mental capacity."
"That sounds bad"
"But there's good news ... for whatever reason, conceivably because you've worked and saved your entire life, you've got a much
better chance of being wealthy than someone much younger and more technologically savvy. If you are lucky enough to be wealthy
while elderly, perhaps that compensates a bit for becoming a bumblefuck. A popular bumblefuck - people from all around the world
will care about you and send you letters once they hear about you!"
