Meta (from Greek: μετά = "after", "beyond", "with"), is a prefix used in English in order to indicate a concept which is an abstraction from another concept, used to complete or add to the latter. The Greek meta is equivalent to the Latin post.
So i'd be beyond-intelligent... Like intelligent about intelligence? Wow, thanks, i didn't expect that from you dude...

See, I feel like "meta-humour" is just a way for people who aren't funny to tell others that they, in fact, are. It's just that they don't get it. Which, really, means they aren't funny.
So, I think meta-intelligent applies.*

I guess you are entitled to your opinion lethal, but meta-humor is still the fact of joking on the mechanism of a joke just like:
* Why don't they sell pharmaceuticals in the rainforest?

Because its very sparsely populated and not economically viable.
or
"Three blokes walk into a pub. One of them is a little bit stupid, and the whole scene unfolds with a tedious inevitability."
?Bill Bailey
It is a "smartass" way to joke, but the result can nonetheless be funny. It wasn't in my post, i've got to admit it, but if you read carefully, i already did.
And by the way the suffix "meta-" applies to subjects, "meta-intelligence" means nothing more than "intelligence applied to intelligence". Wich kinda makes no sense.

I do recognize that meta-humour can be funny, I just find that there are a lot of unfunny and snobbish people who overuse the phrase to indicate that they are also funny, you just don't get it.
