Cons

Post by TwoBuy »

Seems like most web comics I read have posting of their up-coming nerd-convention appearances. Not that I've ever been to any, but I'd go if I could get you to sign something. My wife, for example.

Wiz, do you do cons?

I do, though I haven't been to any "as a cartoonist" yet.

The only con so far I'm planning on attending is Comic-Con 2006. If you wanna point me to a con or two I should attend, I'll see if I can make it.

The big one

Post by TwoBuy »

Well, the Penney Arcade Expo (PAX) is supposedly one of the best, and ran by web-comic artests no less! It takes place in Bellevue, WA (really close to Seattle).

Of course my living ten minutes from the location couldn't possibly provide any bias, but I have heard from other web comics that it is THE con of the year (RvB, Ctrl-alt-del, 8-bit theater, and of course PA).

It happens in July or August.

These are all sorta gaming webcomics though, which SMBC sorta really isn't. Unless you count the Quake, which never actually makes it into the comic.

Zach, make a Quake comic. Or a Doom comic. But Doom I or II, not this newfangled 3 malarky.

The recent "gameboy" comic was about as gamey as I get.

I would seriously like to meet some of you guys at a con some time. Let me know where and when, and I'll try to make it.

I'll definitely be at San Diego. Not my favorite con, but it is THE con.

I'd have to be doing SMBC full time to have it be worth the trip to travel to Canadia for a con. Generally speaking I'd prefer to only do local stuff. However, Comic-Con is a necessity.

I'd give you the opinion of other baby-eating cartoonists if I knew of any

Also, wiztoast, where is "local"? Texas, like every other web cartoonist?

OH HELL NO you jerk. You are not dragging me to Dallas and not going to A-kon. I am dragging your sorry ass to that con and YOU WILL watch bad movies with scandalously dressed minors and overweight men in women's clothing.

PAX man

Zach, if you don't go to PAX chason "will never suck your dick for the rest of your life." And worse, I won't get mine signed by a web cartoonist!

There seems to be a lot of phallicism on the message board of late, which is replacing the infanticide.

For so long, I've dreamed of being able to write that sentence out.

If I thought "If you don't go to PAX I'll kill a baby" would be a threat I would have used it :)

I didn't doubt you for a second, TwoBuy. And that's why I'm writing you into my will.
