Definitely true.

I had no idea that was a thing.

There aren't too many stingrays along NC beaches.

Now I really want some steamed or grilled mussels. They are a favorite. Although whenever I eat mussels I think of the amnesiac shellfish poisoning outbreak in Canadia from PEI mussels and that kind of ruins it for me.

Oh man I did not know about that. One of my now-former housemate's family has a house on PEI and she was always talking about the mussels. She even brought some back after one summer to share.

There's a contemporary French-American restaurant in Chapel Hill known for its mussel dishes. They've got at least three different ones and are all delicious.

It should have been amnesic, but close enough.

It was actually Anthony Bourdain that was my main distrust for mussels.
In my first 2 years of uni our go-to outing was Thursdays at a local pub that charged $4 for a plate of mussels and $4 for a pint of Alexander Keiths (beer). They had a few different sauces for the mussels and it was great.
Fast forward a few years and while reading Kitchen Confidential I found out that any deal on seafood (especially mussels) means that they are at the end of their usefulness and that a new seafood delivery was going to arrive the next day. So the likelihood of a bad experience was higher (though by no means certain).
Probably more importantly, I've never yet had a mussel dish as good as those I got from said pub, which essentially spoiled the dish for me.

I ate mussels once, when I was in Chile. They were disgusting.

Plot twist: Liri is out of the country on business, and completely unaware of this development.

That was so cool.

Edie said the words "hard cider" aloud and the owner of the cider company in question happened to be in earshot and gave her money to buy one. He was super cool.

Remind me to buy you some cider if you make it to Australia.

Edit: Some of the other Australians might be better for this but I'm sure I can pretend to be cider-cultured and buy you something.
