Re: New(s) Province of Moltemedea
I think it is down-right silly to separate it into two forums.
If you haven't noticed, there are not a copious number of posts and members around here, and I hardly understand why it needs to be so categorized and labeled. So there are more links to click? So that there can be an argument over where things truly belong? Because the moderators are bored?
I just want to bitch today, though. So, that's the real reason I'm even mentioning anything.

I agree. I think that there should just be one section because of our relatively low traffic. However, if you mods stick with your decision to keep the sections separate, then the poster of a thread should have control over where it goes, as I explained in my previous post.astasia wrote:I think it is down-right silly to separate it into two forums.

As it is, we already have several sections with extremely low traffic. We've got a limited amount of post flavored jelly, and you guys are spreading it out over much too large a piece of bread. It makes for a bland sandwich.

Having one section would be ridiculous. But I think we have already passed the saturation point for sub-forums.

I didn't mean only one section on the whole board. That would be ridiculous. I simply meant that news and Sci&Phi should be one section.Lethal Interjection wrote:Having one section would be ridiculous. But I think we have already passed the saturation point for sub-forums.

Science/Philosophy is not always news, and not all news is science/philosophy. Plus, I have no idea what you're going on about with this spreading things out stuff. We're simply keeping the sections organized.

But, in can also be over-compartmentalized, which, I believe, is the counterpoint. It also seems needless. That particular subforum, I don't believe, was getting overwhelmed with threads. It only had like 20ish, total.mountainmage wrote:Science/Philosophy is not always news, and not all news is science/philosophy. I just think a perpetual splitting of forums as soon as a few popular threads are part of them might be a poor management style.
But, once again, this is just me liking to bitch.

Personally I just check the "new posts", I don't even look at the subforums anymore because it's all of the same people.

I still go through the sub-forums. I think of it as adjusting my brain to what's coming.

I use the sub-forums, too, but only because they present a bigger target than the "new posts" link up top.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

I use the new posts for when there are lots of people online and I don't want to have to go around.

I've not used the new posts section. Mostly just because it kind of ruins context for me, I think.

I've not used the New Posts section because I didn't know that it existed. Now that I know where it is, it's not getting clicked on ever again. As Lethal said, it ruins context.

I find your mother ruins context, and my bed linen. Also I don't bother with the New Posts button either.
