The middle two aren't in my opinion.

Afghan girl and Napalm girl were both pretty big ones, too.

Why not?

I don't think it is the photos that are the changing thing in the case of those two. I'm not really sure about the last one as well.

I think the photos are something that merely shed light on it.

The pictures stick with people and are able to change the consciousness of those who didn't witness the event themselves.

I did browse the site. You think I would've just come up with those titles as descriptors (rather than "The one with the Vietnamese children running away from the napalm blasts in the background") just like that?

Anyways, I see where Cirtur is coming from. Often it is a group of photos, or something else that is the trigger, not so much the one photo they listed.
For example, other than perhaps the Ground Zero flag raising one, I wouldn't classify any 9/11 photo as world changing. In that case it was absolutely the video that was the influence.

I'm kind of surprised the Hindenburg Picture isn't on that list. You know the one:

Also, does it bother anyone else that, in the middle of all that brutality and suffering (and humanity!), the only picture that people felt we needed to be protected from by thumbnailing was the Playboy centerfold? 'cause it bothers me.

This one always makes my hair stand on end with the understanding of what it took to get.
