"I have an automated system set up with sort of a "dead man's switch" which will give trusted individuals access to my email accounts, web servers, etc. should I be incommunicado for so long as to suggest that I am probably dead.
I am a terrible nerd."

What will you do if you die? Do you have a plan for how your internet affairs will be handled? Does it mean you are a terrible nerd if you have considered this?

I hate to say it folks, but if I kick it, you probably won't find out. It is possible that a friend might start an account to let you guys know, but I wouldn't count on it.
So if I go incommunicado for a while, you can just assume I'm dead. Then if I show up again, you can consider it something else. Zombism, resurrection, whathaveyou.
I suppose it is possible that Wolf sees my name in an obit, but I don't know if she knows my meat name.

Actually, Wolf, one of my coworkers apparently worked at the Bicks plant too. Tim.... Something. His last name escapes me.

That's what's crazy about the internet. I think my friend might've commit suicide, but I really can't ever know. It's so weird how little you know about people this way. I would consider many people I've met online my friends if I knew them in person, but through the internet it's all very strange and different. I only know what is said and if someone did die I couldn't confirm it. It's kinda mindboggling.

My brother has all his log in names and passwords saved somewhere so that when he dies, I or someone else close if I'm not still around am/is supposed to go and tell all his online friends what had happened. He spends a lot of time online though and he's made a lot of close friends over the years, so this makes a fair amount of sense.

Most anyone who I've become good enough "friends" with on the internets, I've talked to on the phone. And, that is who I would be concerned about knowing. I'm going to probably leave it up to littleninja to let them know.

Unless I kill both of you at once.

The funny part is I've thought about this, specifically in regards to this forum. When you spend 3 years of your life talking to people, I'd want someone to at least tell you guys if something happened.

Exactly! I wanted to chime in with this but I figured I was the only one who was worried about leaving Zach shy one Mod.

I'm a fellow compatriot of the forum first, and a mod second, though.

If I disappear, it might mean that I've found something more important to do than talk on the Internets, but more likely I'd be dead.

Then you'd be not just a douche, but a jerkface. So, don't do that.

Also, maybe I'm lame, but, I'd thought about this, before, as well. I guess most anyone who posts on a forum for any length of time would. (Or, only losers do. But, whatever, I'm a loser like that. I'll admit it.)

These are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they overlap a surprising amount.
