Of course, I just realized that I have several of you on Facebook, and you'd probably be able to find out in someway through that, too.

What happens when you die on Facebook? It's kinda creepy to think the account will never be deleted.

I'm still friends with someone who died two years ago. Everything stays the same except that occasionally people write on his wall about missing him or memories and such.

On myspace, you get to approve all the comments beforehand. Just set everything to prior approval and your space will never update again.

I deleted my Space a long while ago when I died of Swine Flu.

The last policy that I remember was to keep the profile for one month before admin deletes it... I don't know what their policy is now.

I've seen it once in the Explosm forums, when a frequenter died in a motorcycle accident, a friend signed up to the forums to let us all know. But yeah, usually people on the interent disappear without a trace. My old high school friend who I saw almost every day last year, no longer shows his face on MSN, and it's getting to the stage where I'm slightly worried that I haven't heard from him in a while. Because I knew him in real life, I guess I can contact him, and probably will soon, but if I hadn't had that option, he could be dead for all I know.

Yeah, it happened a few times during my stay on the View Askew forums.
Once it was actually a really terrible event. A guy named MalcolmXerxes. He was from my hometown of Brampton, actually. He was a fairly decent regular, and had a very noticeable posting style (he typed everything all-caps and in red). Well, we found out that he actually had killed his wife (and possibly kid?) and then turned the gun on himself. Some real mixed emotions about all that. People not believing he was capable of it, people who were really sad and/or really disappointed, and some that just flat out turned on the guy.
I saw it in the local news that week (the Brampton Guardian is three times weekly).

I've heard of stuff like this, but what keeps me from signing up is thinking about "what if there's a reason I can't get on the internet for a month?" Then all my family gets emails about my death? When I'm not actually dead? It sorta creeped me out. I'm going to keep all my codes somewhere and then hopefully someone will be smart enough to use them when I actually do die. Emm... hopefully not too soon.

Don't worry, I'll look after the codes to your death.

Just kidding. I'm probably just going to fade away as far as the internet is concerned, but really I'm going to live forever.

I have no plans. Anyone I am close to online would know about my death. Actually some might not find out. F it I'll be dead I won't give a flying monkey's ass if people know or not.

Actually, Wolf, one of my coworkers apparently worked at the Bicks plant too. Tim.... Something. His last name escapes me.

Really? Tim eh? Depending on his age and where he hails from originally I might know him. It is a small town after all.

He's about 23? A few years younger than me. He's from Hamilton somewheres, I think. I worked with him more directly, but that is over a year and a half ago.

23? Yeah I wouldn't know him. I do not talk to people younger then 24 in real life
