Boardies and Budgie Smugglers are very specific types of swim wear.

Swimmers, Cossies and Swimsuit are all interchangeable. Though Cossies are kind of outdated nowdays.

Togs are just stupid and Bathers are from the 1800's for sure.

For all my childhood, bathers was the only term I'd heard used, so I guess I'm from the 1800s.

Everyone around me used bathers, except my cousins from the country who said togs.

Given the prevalence of adding the suffix -o to many things, I'm surprised there's no swim-o's

The colour differentiation is poorly done. I'm finding it difficult to see just how prevalent "budgie smugglers" actually is.

Budgie smuggler only ever refers to the men's Speedo, as that's the only type of swimwear where the name actually makes sense. Aside from our former prime minister and actual swimming athletes, I don't know anyone else who actually prefers them over board shorts.

As a child of the 80's I can 100% confirm all men wore them when I was young. I am so glad for the advent of boardshorts.

Now you know why we're so blasé about the dangerous animals. They're nothing compared to the true horrors of our continent.

That style of swimwear is still popular in Germany.
