WOW!

Oops, sorry...I mean, "WoW". Yes...if you have guessed it by now...I have been sucked into the World of Warcraft. And it is a really fun game. I got the game because South Park's episode about it was so awesome that I had to get it! (And my friends at work wanted me to get it).
Does anyone else play World of War-crack?

they're either stat grinders, gold farmers, or rejects from city of heroes who just want to screw around with costumes and dance.

or they want to PvP.

basically that place is RPG hell.

Hmm, going to disagree here. Though I have no interest in playing myself because the game only rewards throwing hours at it (which is a good strategy for a pay-to-play game), the game itself is very well designed and implemented which is evident in the amazing number of people who play it.

I tend to like games which require skill. First because that makes them more fun, and second, because I have a wife and thus not much time for video games anymore.

I don't think you're disagreeing with me so much as you're pointing out the "good" aspects of it.

yes World of Warcraft is very well designed and good at taking your money.

the gameplay itself is not very well designed, actually it would be fine if battles were turn-based and not real-time.

Game-style preference! You might as well say "the game would be way better if it was a side-view 1 on 1 fighting game."

Just because Counter Strike took a great idea and turned it into something I hate with a firey passion, does not mean the game sucks. It means I hate it. There's a difference.

but that doesn't mean that there are not some fundamental problems with the game 50% of which are the people who play it**

My WoW is an Undead Rogue. I just started so he isn't too good...yet

FFXI is superior graphically...... and that's about it.

It's combat system was boring, partying was essential, and also fairly non-existent. Idiots led to deaths, which led to exp loss, which led to de-levelling and losing all your armour. Everything was outpriced beyond belief by Japanese players who had the game first.

WoW is a far better game, it's easier to play casually and when it comes down to the PvP or end-game raiding requires a fair level of skill. I still prefer to sit here and play Vandal Hearts, but this lacks the communal level that WoW offers.

When you have possibly the biggest player base of MMORPG's, you're bound to have an awful lot of idiots that don't enjoy the game as intended, or the same way you do. That doesn't stop you finding like-minded people and playing with them.

I'll admit, the last time I played WOW, was when it first launched, so maybe the amount of level-headed players has increased, but I remember thinking at the time, that City of Heroes was classier by far.

of course no sooner did I have that thought than I immediately canceled my account, un-installed the game, and gave it to my best friend's little brother.
