Um... Go a Canadian team! Unless you're an American team with a lot of Canadians on in which case that's good too I guess.

Man, since the Jets got sold I have no idea who to cheer for anymore.

I don't like it when people go on a tangent about how such and such a team has more Canadian players than some particular team based in Canadia.
They aren't wrong, but I just don't see how it should change my mind about cheering for, in this case, the Canucks.
It isn't about the players. Sure, there are players I would like to see get a Cup.
It is about the fans. The plethora of Canadian teams who haven't seen a Cup for their home team, or for any team based in their home country. Having Anaheim win the Cup, even with its large contingent of Canadian players, doesn't satisfy me in the same way as having some Canadian fans rewarded for their loyalty to their team.

That guy doesn't learn, does he? I don't know how much longer the Rangers will tolerate him, but he is certainly a reason for their failure. And he will never play for any other NHL team again. The guy has really torn up his meal-ticket. I was willing to give him a second chance, but he pooched it.

i dunno... despite them losing, Avery played amazing in a couple of the games. also, i'm willing to put up with him as long as the internet is willing to continue posting about his ex girlfriends

But what about when you no longer have a team to be loyal to? How do you choose who to cheer for then?

My brother's a big Anaheim fan, but I suspect it's because he liked the movie. My grandmother's just abandoned the league completely and started cheering for the Moose, and all my friends just chose a team from a place they feel some sort of kinship to. For example I know someone who grew up in Montreal, so he always cheers for the Habs. Personally I've abandoned Hockey for Curling, because I enjoy yelling 'Sweep' at my television.

That wasn't based against you. I just don't like it when I'm cheering for, say, Vancouver in the playoffs (the Leafs are obviously not in) because I want to see some Canadian fans rewarded for their loyalty. I don't care about percentage of the team is from what nationality, I just want a Canadian team to take a Cup.

I'm from Hamilton, and it is far enough away from Toronto (plus there is something of a rivalry) that there are plenty of people who cheer for some other team. Plenty of Canadians fans, since their AHL affiliate is based in Hamilton. I have a friend who is from St. Catharines who isn't close enough to be a Leafs fan, and is unwilling to cheer for Buffalo, so quite some time back he became a fan of Calgary, and that has stuck. That's absolutely fine. I even have family friends whose entire family cheers for the Bruins, because the dad has for many years. The son does as well, and as it turned out (I don't think this was a criteria for dating) both daughters married Bruins fans as well (from St. Kitts and Kitchener, respectively).

I may be a Leafs fan, but I hardly bleed blue. Which most people don't understand, because they take delight in mocking the Leafs when I mention it. I couldn't care less. They are the team I cheer for, but I don't have the undying loyalty that some Leafs fans do (my roomate, for example). In fact, this whole rebuilding thing has actually had me more excited for the Leafs than I ever have been. Sure, we won't win a Cup soon, but positive changes, not just going with the same old tactics that don't work? Fantastic. Should be an exciting off-season.

Oh geeze, this Caps Pens series so far has been pretty great. Hopefully the first two games are an indicator of things to come.

Well, what a disappointing finish to a great series. Varlamov who came out of nowhere really pooped in the bed here. I think that maybe one of the Pens goals was a good one, the rest were average or below. Damn whiny bitch Crosby gets a second chance while Ovechkin goes home.
