I think that may be the largest number of real registered posters I've ever noticed online.

We were up to ten Meat accounts earlier tonight. Also, we're up to a little over 1500 accounts, if you ignore my Alts.

I figured that by the vast amount of conversation I've had to wade through (not to mention posting responses to posts over a page previous, as the conversations were primarily tangents).

Well, we've banned so many spam email domains that the majority of new sign-ups are from gmail. While people do use gmail to spam, at least we've narrowed down the list of acceptable emails to register with.

Is '@googlemail.com' a valid address? I've banned spammers who were using it before, but I know that's what appends Cirtur's address, so I am uncertain.

Huh. I'm pretty sure gmail is google's email domain. Maybe Cirtur is just a really smart spambot?

Googlemail.com is a real address; it's what gmail turned into when the company that actually owns the trademark to gmail complained about it.

So, is Google just paying royalties to whomever Gmail belongs to, or did they just buy the company outright? I ask because my e-mail is still RetsnimdeCorp@gmail.com

Anyone that did have a gmail gets to keep it, but they're not allowed to give out any more.

How long ago was this? I ask because we're still getting fresh spam-bots with Gmail addresses. Also, how would that work, anyway? I demand proof or I shall claim you to be guilty of shenanigans.

The crazy part is, if you sign up for a new gmail account, it still gives you an @gmail.com address.
So clearly, Google has perfected the technology required to sign up for email accounts from the FUTURE.

Oh yeah, the gmail company only owns it in the UK so google can do whatever it wants outside of it, but in fair Britannia (where we have standards, damn it) they have to use @googlemail.com
