Black dog is a bitsa. A little bit of Lab, and a big bit of Kelpie.

I would've guessed lab cross, but the lack of definition of the black on black...

My uncle and aunt have had to Border Collie crosses. Their first one was a spaniel collie cross. Great dog, good looking. Better though, is there current one, Shepherd collie cross.
Collies are so freaking smart, it is definitely my dog of choice. Both of those dogs remembered even with sporadic visits.
My other uncle once had a purebred collie, with short hair and pointy ears. Both recessive traits in the border collie.

I've deduced that Kelpies are pretty smart, but their nothing compared to a Lab. Lab remembered everyone and everything. Though the black dog does remember me from when it was little and I let it sit in my lap. I come back from Japan eight months later and it still wants to sit in my lap...

My oldest pug, Ollie, is probably the smartest one of the three. There was a female pug he was fond of years ago, and he still goes ballistic whenever we say her name. He runs around looking for her, and it's really funny.

Thems some nice dogs, Kimra. Nice creek, too.

Being a Lab the words the blonde responds to the most are 'breakfast', 'food', 'treat', 'snack', 'chip', 'do you want-' etc kind of sad that most her vocab is food related.

Our dogs know:

Cheese, carrot, hungry, out, walk, cookie, ride (as in "ride in the car"), and the names of some of their dog-friends and people-friends.

My pig knows up, down, round in a circle, jump, big jump, come, good job, and "holy crap, it's a pig". Most of these coincide with her tricks.

My dogs were pretty smart before they died.

They knew up up down down left right left right B A.

My dog (a proper mutt, mom was purebred german shepherd, dad was bouvier/Irish wolfhound/other) knew a few words.

Walk. Sit. Stay. Shake a paw. Other paw.* Flyers.** Home. Cheese. And I guess things like up, down or come.

*We actually taught him these tricks (shake and other) pretty late in life for a dog. You can teach old dogs new tricks.
**When we got him me and my sister had a paper route. So they'd get to our house to drop them off and he'd bark like a champ. Well, we pretty much kept that Pavlovian response thing going, because it was pretty much our way of getting him to run to the door and bark his head off, even though we probably only did papers for a year or two after we got him.

That's a terrible name and you should feel bad. But it's a cat, so I don't mind.

We also have two other cats. Dingus and Turd. But Crapper's my favorite.
