Your Favorite Artsist!
My absolute favorite artist would have to be zdzislaw beksinski.
Though I also enjoy many others such as Dali and Escher and Picasso.
So, who are your favorites? Also, if you could provide me with artists, that you may or may not like, that are similar to Beskinski that would be super mega-awesome. I'm really inspired by the dark, post-apocalyptic themed surrealist stuff.
INB4 ZACH IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST, ED ALREADY DID IT.

OKAY? OKAY!?!?
AAHHHRHHRHHHRRRIIII-I respect your opinion as an individual, but I disagree with you. Though seriously, what artists do you like?

Re: Your Favorite Artsist!
I actually was just perusing some art by a friend of a friend. Very good stuff. She works full-time for Sears here in Canadia, designing a lot of their logos and stuff for their baby lines. But she has also done stuff for The Globe and Mail and The National Post at times. Really good semi-surreal but very accessible stuff. I didn't catch her name or her website, so I can't share.
I also do rather like Dali and Escher. There are probably others, but they don't come to mind at all.

Aww, darn. I'm hoping to expand my artists because I know of so very few. I feel special for discovering Beksinski, and I know there are a few in my Ap World History book that are pretty sweet, but I was hoping to find more from you guys.

I tried to find it, but to no avail.
I did remember that another friend's sister has done a lot of comic art. Her site is here.

Dalí's really the only artist that I come close to appreciating, because I enjoy surrealist work. I'm not big on art, it can't really hold my focus and I don't really have any taste for it. My favourite medium is the short story.FengharTheNord wrote:OKAY? OKAY!?!?

I like fantasy, so I also like fantasy artists such as Rebecca Guay, RK Post, and Mark Zug. (They're all illustrators for Magic: The Gathering.)
Also, Escher rocks.
EDIT: Bernini is a fuckin' amazing sculptor. So life-like.
Edit 2: John Avon is also a great fantasy artist (yet another MTG illustrator).

Rage is the only freedom left me.
That Commander Greven Il-Vec card cost me a lot of friendships, but it's okay, because it's 7/5 and can only be blocked by black creatures and artifacts.

Different person. One is a friend's sister. Another is a different friend's friend.FengharTheNord wrote:Ooh, I like it. Very "thick". That's the feeling I get from it. "Thick".Lethal Interjection wrote:I tried to find it, but to no avail.

Re: Your Favorite Artsist!
Like everyone else in the world I am fond of Dali and Escher. I actually just love art and could select pieces from different periods and of different art styles. However, that would be boring for most people seeing as they would be well known artists so instead I selected a few ones you may or may not have known about.
Let's see. I'm a huge fan of Lawren Harris (member of the Group of Seven) not so much his abstract stuff though. His landscape pieces are just wow. Pictures cannot do them justice at all, you need to experience the bright colours and the way that every thing seems so smooth. His work literally took my breath away when i saw it in the A.G.O..
Auguste Rodin I love as a sculptor, primarily the piece "The Gates of Hell" and Adam. I've only been able to see Rodin's Adam in person and was actually ushered away by security when our friend was caught touching it. Rodin is probably more known for his sculpture "The Thinker" which ironically was originally apart of The Gates of Hell. Actually I think most of his famous works were originally apart of TGoH.
Boo-ya! I found her! Käthe Kollwitzis my favourite female artist is not my overall favourite. Her work is dark and gritty, not afraid to truly capture the experience that war offers people. I first saw a slide of this etching (Woman and Dead Child) 10 or more years ago and I still remember it and it still gets me every time.
