I've never understood this opinion. That's all good for an American beer, but quality beer from a quality place is actually drinkable.

I don't know if I've ever even drunk American beer. Australian beer, European beer, Irish beer, etc but not American beer. I've just asked a beer drinker in the house if I've ever had American beer and being informed "no, you wouldn't have had any, American beer is lolly water" (translation note, lolly = candy)

Beer still sucks no mater who makes it.

Beer is so attached to the connotations of party, laughter, friends and fuzzy feelings that I would find it difficult to hate.

Well that's why I didn't say American beer versus Canadian or European beer, I said quality beers, and from my thorough examination it appears that you have had not had a quality beer before. It's like everyone who says coffee is gross, of course it's going to be gross if you don't know how to make it.

Unlike Cirtur, though, I don't like being drunk at parties. Things generally go badly.

You'd really have to try to not drink alcohol at parties over here.

IT'S IN THE JUICE

But I have tried "quality beers". People have a tendency to say, "You don't like beer, try this." and then I'm trying another beer, and it still tastes like bubbly piss in a bottle / schooner. I could accumulate a list of beers I've tried (by asking the people who perpetually make me try them) but I'm lazy, and I wont.

As for parties I'm all for being drunk, but I require vodka, or baileys or something that I can actually drink (admitedly vodka is mixed with something sweet)* without feeling like I've consumed stale rats piss. But then again I don't 'go' to parties. If anything I host parties, because I really enjoy the preparation of a party, but not actually being around people. My sisters often use this to their own advantage.

*damn I just retyped sweet/sweat about six times before remembering the word was in the title for me to reference the correct spelling from.

All right, fine. I just don't like people who give some shitty Canadian beer a try and say "oh my god beer is bad!" And they're drinking Molson or Lakeport (cheapest legal price!) or something. Admittedly I'm way more upset about the coffee thing but we're not talking about that right now.

I don't go to "parties" per se, I much prefer hanging out in a friend's basement, getting drunk and playing video games (and drinking is totally optional). I've been to "parties" and they're really awful, I don't need to get drunk and talk to a bunch of people I hate or have never met before, especially because, as I understand it, I am terrifying when I'm drunk. My general preference is beers to relax, rum to get drunk (and only good rum). Vodka is okay if I'm having a bad stomach day 'cause vodka doesn't really get me sick ever, even if cheap vodka tastes disgusting.

Would now be a bad time to tell you I hate coffee as well?

Admittedly sometimes coffee smells really nice, but the same coffee is just as likely to make my stomach turn on our next encounter.

Actually I annoy a lot of people. They say "Tea or Coffee?" and I say "Neither." of if I'm at a cafe I say "Hot Chocolate."

I don't know many people who don't drink tea (although I will not drink hot black tea, excluding chai, as it will routinely ruin me and my stomach).

I could manage Jasmine tea on my good days, and after eight months in Japan I built up and like of green tea (when your thirsty in a country and you can barely speak the language you drink whatever your given). But I would feel really really rude if someone offered me tea and I said 'oh yes, some green tea would be wonderful' because I know they are not actually offering anything but plain black tea.

Now that sounds strange to me, who wouldn't keep green tea in the house? Maybe that's more common in Canadia than Australia because we're very "multicultural", as they say.

Actually in my experience green tea is more common than black tea. Though restaurant default teas here still tend to be black.

Exactly, you're Canadian.
