i sucked at my japan language class. i will have to take it over again sometime.
I think it would be pronounced closer to WAH-key-zah-shee, but then again I don't really know how Japanese works. Kimra might know better.

Kimra spent her childhood in Japan.

It's a shame she's not a turtle, or a mutant.

Or a teenager. I think she is automatically a ninja for her childhood experience, though.

Well everyone in Japan is a ninja.

Notice how like, ninja's are supposed to be good, but everyone can beat them up.

You're forgetting the Law of Inverse Ninja Effectiveness.

There is a finite amount of ninja skill in any ninja group. The larger the group, the smaller the amount of skill that is available to each ninja. So, the average human can fend off 1000 ninjas if they attack en mass, but it takes at least that many average humans to fend off one lone ninja.

IPA is something like /w̜akid͡zaɕi/, the closest English equivalent would be something like /wɑkizɑʃi/... So, pretty much what you have down; it's like first two letters of "Wobbuffet", "key", "saw" but pronounce the first letter like a "zee" (as you people call it), and then "she". Note that Japanese does not have stress in the same way that English does, so we tend to just put it wherever the hell we want.

Of course, Kimra might know better.

Yeah.

Trained as a day post apocalyptic warrior myself.

There is nothing here. It is not the edge of the world but I can see it if I climb a tree. From an early age my family has been taught to survive. Before we enter high school, all boys are taught to sew. That has come in handy considering I have had my share of brouhahas.

As soon as we were old enough to hunt things we were taught to.

Identify prey
Stalk the prey
Kill the prey
Skin the prey
Carve up the prey
Cook the prey
Save some prey for later

The swords are new. They are just for show (or are they)

Don't say that Ed. What if you are his first kill? I'll be a widow/widower

I'm pretty sure Ed is the man in your relationship.

I'm a yellow belt in Shotokan Karate. That's how awesome I am. But I might be pretending to be lame so no-one suspects.
I'm sticking with "what they said" about pronunciation of Wakizashi simply because I can think of no word that starts with 'wa' that sounds anything like the Japanese 'Wa' sound. Japanese is really easy to pronounce (the one upside to the whole language) and breaks up into consonant+vowel's really easy wa わ - ki き - za ざ - shi し. (with only six letters that are exempt from this a-e-i-o-u and n)

p.s. I might have swine flu, I suspect if I do I will disappear or make as much sense as a drunk Cirtur over the next few days.

That's why I put some options. I would still be a man so it would technically be widower.

I make plenty sense. You're just not next to me when I'm saying aloud what I want to type.
