Why do others think you are insane?
What specific quirks prompt uneasy looks in your fellow humans? Why are you considered strange by all who know you?*
For example, today I freaked several people out by sticking a picture of Socrates in my glasses. I tried to block my eye, as well as to the side of my head. People were confused by this for some reason.
* I hope you, the reader/fellow forumite are not insulted by this, but if you are a frequent poster on the forum, this's pretty much a given.

Did you just tell them that by blocking off any clear vision out of that eye you were trying to simulate "the cave".
Because then you wouldn't be insane, but an eccentric philosopher.*

Re: Why do others think you are insane?
Hmm, I've done a lot of obnoxious and bizarre things so not many stick out in my mind. I ran around on Nuit Blanche drunk and screaming while wearing a clown nose, but that wasn't even really my idea (although I have a particularly loud scream, I found a youtube video where I'm not even visible and you can hear me shouting above an entire crowd). One of my favourite times was when I sat next to a woman on the Staten Island ferry and said "smile at the camera". And I had a friend take a photo of us.
I also do a lot of weird things with my hair ex. tying it into a bun, tying it into pigtails, braiding it, tying it up with my beard, growing it, etc.
My eyebrows can do the wave.
If I get tongue-tied (which is frequently) I stop, start going through my phonetic exercises (unintentionally), and then try again.
I can remember more dead-baby jokes than any of my friends.
I don't tap my d's and t's and sometimes I speak in a non-rhotic accent.
When I find something really funny, I have a high-pitched laugh that doesn't sound anything like how I speak.
I guess there are other things but I try not to think about it.

It's because my basement has several strange pictures in. When I lock people in there they look at the pictures and are like "This is CRAZY." Then they laugh for a while and the camera pans down and the credits start.
This is the point at which I masturbate.

It's more like the guy's laugh actually, except higher-pitched and more consistent and fuller sounding. Like a loud, high-pitched guffaw. If I manage to record it one day I'll share it with you guys because it actually does startle most people.Edminster wrote:This is now how I imagine you to laugh.LordRetard wrote:When I find something really funny, I have a high-pitched laugh that doesn't sound anything like how I speak.
EDIT: It's a bit like Ricky Gervais, actually. Actually I remember listening to the show on my way to school and thinking "wow, that sounds like me!" Except that my speaking voice is a fair bit lower than his.

Re: Why do others think you are insane?
Gervais' laugh is pretty annoying. My condolences.
I do random stuff sometimes.
Me and my friend came out of a restaurant once laughing our asses off, pretending we were severely drunk. It was pretty convincing, if you ask me. We stumbled and laughed all the way to the car. From the door to cars it was less than 50 feet, but it took us nearly 10 minutes we went on so much. When we got to the cars we instantly sobered, shook hands, got in our respective vehicles and drove away. We were probably 24 at the time.
I can't really think of any other examples, but I do crazy attention-getting behaviour in public plenty. I just have to have the right crowd.
Actually one of the craziest examples I can think of:
I was hanging out with a group of my cousins in a pool hall. All told there were 5 of us, I believe, with 3 families represented. A guy walks into the hall who looks like a complete doppleganger of my cousin. So much so that my two cousins (the brother and sister of said cousin) are just awestruck. We joke about it for a while, and after some time the guy whiffs on the cue ball and sends it off the table towards us. I jokingly say "Hey, Nick!", which is the name of said cousin. He says "Hey...", looks confused, and goes back to his table. After our shocked laughing fit, I go over and talk with him, asking if his name is really Nick. It is, at which point the cousins come over and we talk with him, explaining the situation. He looks really, really weirded out. We take some "family" pictures with him. I've never seen them, though, which is too bad. His friends seemed a little weirded out too, but this Nick looked pretty uncomfortable.
Funny memory, that.

Re: Why do others think you are insane?
Well for example, in Year 12 our school put on a dress-up barbeque for muck-up day (the last day of secondary school ever where a lot of people decide to throw eggs and do stupid shit) to keep us out of trouble. This was my costume:
Still, it wasn't as insane as one of my friend's (edited for anonymity):
That stuffed sheep even baa'd when he squeezed it. That's the kind of attention to detail that makes a great costume.

Actually I looked back at the video and it didn't happen. It just happened that someone else was shouting "wooh yeah!" like an idiot beside the recorder. You can still hear me shouting but only when everyone else was quiet.smiley_cow wrote:Links or it didn't happen.LordRetard wrote:I found a youtube video where I'm not even visible and you can hear me shouting above an entire crowd).

Re: Why do others think you are insane?
I have a tendency to suddenly start laughing over something that happened several days ago. I also tend to not get jokes*. My laugh often is silent; that hole-thing in my throat flaps back and forth making a kind of clicking noise. My laugh also sometimes squeaks, and I occasionally snort, which is embarrassing. I have a friend whose laugh is remarkably similar to "Ha Ha Ha'' or "Heh Heh".
*This may not be a surprise.

*I mean this in the least disturbing way possible.
