Okay, what if you're a well-educated chump working in retail? One of the other pages has a degree from the Ontario College of Art and Design. Whoops! He's five years older than me but in the end he just went back to college instead. But, like, a real one.

Yeah, but I'm not an English major and I'm not associated with the English department. You can get a specialist in linguistics+English but I will not. A lot of linguistics courses pay special attention to English but only because it has a large number of corpora to work with and we all speak it. I'm not actually taking any English linguistics courses. Ideally we can look at data from any language and work with it, and a lot of the work I do in class is in languages that I cannot speak or understand.

Then I take back what I said before.

But you totally could have been man. You just got to swallow your pride and take that english part so you have more ways to be obnoxious with your field towards teenagers when you're 50.

I don't see how this is a good thing for me at all.

Everyone will do it. You'll just be able to enjoy it better.
