I am trying to imagine having had a childhood without knowing who he is, but it is too sad. Next thing you'll be saying you don't know who Asterix and Obelisk are!

Tintin has left a scar on my soul. It ranks with Lucille Ball on shows I least want to be reminded off in my life. There was just something wrong with the show, it devoured your consciousness and wheedled away at your life-force.

Yeah, I was a huge fan of them, I never realised just how much history and controversy was involved in his works. The TV shows were horrible and didn't quite do justice to the comics for me, I think they tended to condense the stories far more than they should have, so that they could fit it all into a 30 minute timeslot. The Tintin in America episode completely skipped the part where he interacts with a Native American tribe, which had some social commentary about their second-class nature, and indeed avoided most of the commentary that Herge made through the comic.

Yeah I didn't like or even watch the show that much. But I loved and do still love the books/comics

Not really, since that was a parody and very much not canon.

I had (what I assume were) the episodes where Tintin goes to the moon on VHS. Didn't hold a candle to the comics, but it's probably the single tape I watched the most when I was little.
I never even considered that there might be other Tintin cartoons.

Those shoes are Awesome looking. Going to check them out in person this weekend at a store in the area (20+miles away, but going there anyways) that sells them. "Zombie Runner" really with a name like that I might go check it out anyways.

Oh and there's actually some theory behind Lowering the drinking age to prevent binge drinking. Or at least reducing the fatality amount from it because people would be more willing to do it in the open/seek help when there are issues.

I support lowering the age of consent, for similar reasons. People are more likely to seek help and not treat it as a secret if they don't think of it as some illicit activity. Don't get me wrong I believe pedophiles should be castrated in unpleasant ways as a minimum punishment. But a guy who banged a 16 year old isn't a pedophile, he's just unlucky and needs to learn to card anyone he sleeps with. Our culture seems to think our sexual identity is paramount to who we are as a person, its changing that concept that would do far more good to stop teen pregnancies and STD spreading then laws telling them its only something for adults to do.

Besides maturity at this rate is becoming something people obtain later and later in life. The whole 'in betweener' concept is a disturbing proof of this. Its not -that- long ago that 13-14 was a normal age to be married by, and at 16-17 you were an old maid. People are able to be mature adultish beings at a far younger age then currently considered, we just encourage them to wait and grow into it later under some conviction that it should be stretched out as long as possible.

By the time she's 16 he's more interested in her adult bits then thinking of her as a child. He just likes them still tight and perky with the theoretical air of innocence and virginity.
