It reminds me of how some people have suggested fighting the underage /binge drinking problem in Australia. By increasing the legal drinking age to 21. Because that's going to stop the 15 yr olds who are already drinking....

That's not going to work. US has mega problems with teens/underage young adults binge drinking and dying of alcohol poisoning. Raising the drinking age isn't going to work.

I know, that's why it pisses me off so much. It is so painfully obvious that it's a really stupid idea, yet people keep suggesting it seriously. They actually think it will work.

It's not like lowering the drinking age is going to stop people from drinking, either. Then again a big part of it is that more people want to do it if they can't. Ontario is pretty good, drinking age is 19 unless you're under parental supervision. Of course, we have binge drinking too. I've been looking around and I'm having trouble finding a correlation between drinking age and binge drinking among minors. It seems to be more cultural than anything.

It is cultural. The French let their kids drink and they don't have binge drinking.


Anyway I had to take my friend back to his place because he was so drunk. I've never had to take someone back before and it was a burden. I am never doing that again.

I've done that before, I didn't mind so much. In terms of coralling drunk people so that they don't die, I'm not too bad at it. Especially because people don't like to second-guess me when I've been drinking. I remember standing in the way of my friends with my arms out so that they couldn't pass me and they couldn't push me out of the way. I don't know why they didn't try to go around me. I don't spend a lot of time around binge drinkers so this only rarely comes up.

Yeah, I don't hang out with binge drinkers. But the guy I took back was diabetic, so I was worried he might pass out in the street or something.
