It's really hot or it's really cold but hey, you're already dead, so it can't kill you. Hell always sounds kinda sweet to me.

Traditionally all hell is is a separation from God, which for Christians is supposed to be plenty punishment. The whole idea of fire and brimstone and torture is a much later invention.

I've always liked this as a description of hell.

It's an extended scene from Kevin Smith's Dogma.

If you're really lucky, you can go to Milton Hell.
Anon out of the earth a Fabrick huge
Rose like an Exhalation, with the sound
Of Dulcet Symphonies and voices sweet,
Built like a Temple, where Pilasters round
Were set, and Doric pillars overlaid
With Golden Architrave; nor did there want
Cornice or Freeze, with bossy Sculptures grav'n,
The Roof was fretted Gold.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

I've never really thought the idea of hell as a place of suffering and torment made any sense. It doesn't really fit with the rest of Christianity. Separation from God sounds more apt.

I'm surprised that scene was taken out. It really ties the movie together quite well.

I wasn't aware I could like Dogma more than I already did. It's too bad they took that scene out.

The scene wasn't exactly taken out, I just linked a longer version. The longer version is much better, and I'd buy a 'director's cut' of Dogma for that alone, but it isn't as if they left it out completely. Smith doesn't exactly regret the cut (he does most of the editing of his flicks himself), but it is one that he wished he could include.

The director's cut of Dogma has been a wish for a long time of mine, and it has been something that has been on his table for a while, too. Because I've really wanted to see the documentary of Dogma*, too, which has thusfar been only available on Vulgar (he had a role, and it is directed by a friend of Smith's), which I've never seen (though it has a clown being raped!). And I assume he'd include that. I think it might be wrapped up in production hell**, as has been the long-awaited Chasing Amy Tenth Anniversary DVD (and I think they are now putting whatever was supposed to be on the new edition on the Bluray disc).

* I especially want to see the bit where he actually goes to a Dogma protest (the Catholics protesting, natch), with a placard that reads Dogma is Dog****. He talked to a bunch of people, none of which had seen the movie, or even recognized him. He was even interviewed (as a protester, not as himself, he used a friend's name) at the rally for the local news, where he basically said the same things others had said, and it made it to air.
** Different rights belong to different companies, so getting everyone to actually agree is nearly impossible

I don't feel like reading any part of this thread other than this last page, so I'm going to assume that someone suggested that LR "go to hell" for a study abroad experience.

Now that you are no longer married, your good influence over his internet grammar is no longer in effect.
