Is it possible for the comments section to work properly?

Can we get a real discussion going that doesn't devolve into name-calling, hyperbole and the mentioning of one Adolph Hitler? Can comments sections ever work, or do they just give the great unwashed a place to fling dirt?

Fun word to say, for the record.

Essentially, there is no incentive to actually discuss anything. Actually, I'd say that it is a comment section, not a discussion section or feedback discussion. You leave a comment. Perhaps that Obama's health care is hilter or some shit, I don't know. It's a valid comment.

It's an opinion, but I wouldn't call it valid.

Yeah but his point is that it's a valid comment, which is true.

Dunno, I guess it depends on the community you get.

Ahmet chooses to remain silent and hold his dignity. Didn't we have a conversation in the comments something like a year back? Something about presidents.

I remember having a decent discussion with Ed in the comments section some really long time ago before I actually officially joined the forums. I never go on their anymore though, there's just too many trolls.

My favourites are the guys who go "first!" hours or even days after the comics have been posted. Funny dudes.

It's no more annoying than the people who respond with "hey man, that's not funny cut it out! I know you're just trying to annoy people but stop it!"
