I'm downloading The human centipede. It's kind of like playing Russian Roulette with your sanity.

Oh god... I do not have a delicate constitution or anything, but I first heard about that movie about six months ago and I have absolutely no intention of ever seeing it.

I'm sorry but I simply don't see the appeal of a movie about eating shit. Are people watching for the gross-out factor? If that's the case there are such better movies to do so with. If they're trying to call it original then they obviously haven't seen half of the German porn movies out there. I'm gonna say that anyone who is considering watching The Human Centipede should save some time and money and just watch Two Girls One Cup instead. Same idea, just achieved in less time.

I actually completely agree with you on this. You pretty much (in general, there are definite exceptions) have to go to foreign language films for proper suspense based, actually scary horror nowadays. Pretty much any Spanish language film by Guillermo Del Toro (especially The Orphanage) and Let the Right One In (Swedish) are ones I recommend, although I'm sure there are more I don't know about.

The Saw films are pretty much the best-known examples of this kind of exploitation horror movie that isn't the least bit scary. Then again I'm not a big fan of the grotesque or the scary so it works out okay for me.

After seeing the first saw movie I didn't flinch until that one with the MUDVAYNE music video where the doctor did an operation on the man with the hardware tools. I had just used a drill a while back, worrying what would happen if I slipped up. That's the only thing that got to me.

While the horror genre may be moving away from playing with your mind, indie films just seem to be getting more and more abstract. For example, Schizopolis... now it may be '96 and therefore not techinically recent, but it sure do give a good example of a film that makes the watcher do mental half pikes in an attempt to even try and vaguely guess at what is happening
