But he was only in one episode, so he's not noteworthy.

I have a tendency with movies and TV shows to like them for their potential. Merlin had a lot of potential, untapped potential. I like it in the same way I like 'I am Legend', the way it could go intrigues me.

Sort of like the first Harry Potter movie. The magic was soo trashy I wanted to cry in pity. New movie has improved by leaps and bounds special effects wise.

I don't know, I thought that Stranger than Fiction had tons of potential... But I didn't like it because they pulled it off poorly. In fact I found it extremely disappointing to watch an okay movie with a fantastic premise.

One thing I find annoying/amusing about the show isn't about the show itself, but my brother's reaction to a particular aspect. He finds it incredibly unlikely that there would be so many dark skinned people walking around Camelot, and says so whenever a said person walks onscreen. "Unlikely"!? They're USING FREAKIN' MAGIC. I think his willingness to suspend belief for one thing and not the other quite mystifying.

I made the same comment to sister while she was watching, about how a one of the noblemen was dark-skinned, which was really not very accurate at all. Magic is a given because we are talking about the story of King Arthur, so naturally it can be accepted. I guess your brother was expecting to see a story that would try its best to accurately portray the legendary fictionary story.

As I've no doubt said before a quadrillion times, Bernard Cornwell's King Arthur trilogy is m favourite take on the story, and in this, the main character is neither Arthur or Merlin, but a former Saxon soldier who befriended Arthur and fought side by side with him against his own Saxon kin. He becomes a Christian monk in the early days of Christianity having previously fought for their public enemy #1 in Arthur, and secretly writes of his experiences with the legendary King Arthur for a Queen interested in knowing more about his life and unsatisfied with the myths. JUST READ THE BOOK ALREADY SO YOU CAN AGREE WITH ME.

I liked that movie. It pulled it off far better than anything I expected them to manage in hollywood. The end could have being more poignant but I think that's the point, if the decision to save a life, or lose a life rests on poignancy, then she chose well.

Same problem with the Robin Hood show that came out. Not the black people thing, that only takes a few seconds to overlook when remembering the dragons and all of that (even if in those days there was more chance of a dragon than a person of african decent in the ranks of the nobility). But with a disregard to what is even a little acurate. And by the way (incase the spoiler bar doesn't give it away: SPOILER) they totally killed Marian at the end of that series.

I also really liked that movie. I understand LR's problem, as it did seem vaguely flat as a whole, but it is still one of my favourite movies from the past few years.

Not to your face, anyways.

Anyways, you can't go wrong with T.H. White's "The Once and Future King".

There's a lot of fiction written about this guy. The worst thing I've seen is the last legion, which had nothing to do with Arthur until the end. It was also spoiled by the people behind putting chewing gum in my friend's hair and going "How man, is that excalibur?" at the big reveal at the end.

The Once and Future King is probably the most accurate, well-told representations out there.
