Dangerous Virus Spread BY Games
Do you game on your PC? Your framerate might be being reduced by a virus called World of Warcraft. This virus is resitant to normal virus removal programs, but you can get rid of it very easily with this simple method. Simply uninstall and don't login again. Yes, it is just that simple.
Another method is to open My Computer, right click on the corrupted C: Drive and click delete. The virus will then try to stall you with warnings but ignore them. Your computer should restart, but if it does not attack it with a hammer.
Editor's note: Hurray, my first actual use of my mod responsibilities!

I can't tell if this is a joke post or you actually think someone would fall for that, but either way....

This joke is utter fail. Don't listen to him. I'm pretty sure most of you know that system32 is a required folder for windows to run properly. Deleting it will fuck up your computer badly.

I don't think the expectation was for anyone to actually fall for it. More of a rant that no computer is better than a computer with WoW installed...AHMETxRock wrote:Well now we know.

You apparently missed the original. I edited for said "rant". He actually suggested deleting some system file (I can't remember which anymore).TwoBuy wrote:I don't think the expectation was for anyone to actually fall for it. Ahmet was at least a little taken in. That proved enough to rid the board of such a suggestion.
It was clearly in jest, as 75% of regular computer users would probably know better, and another 20% would know enough to at least research before following the instructions, but I didn't want anyone to get screwed. Plus, I didn't edit the second half, and that was more clearly in jest, but some might not get that far or read it fully.
So I got a chance to finally use my modding duties!

Re: Dangerous Virus Spread BY Games
World of Warcraft is a decent game. The extra emphasis is gets for being so popular is silly. It's a decent game that just got popular. Good marketing, geek fans spreading the word, etc. I played a trial for it, and it doesn't deserve the awesome prair or extreme criticism is gets. Video games are being played more than ever by the majority of people, so that even the whole you're a geek you play games angle should be dying out.
Then again, the whole thing about spending thousands of dollars on keeping your pc up to date is pretty stupid.

I have absolutely no desire to play it. I think I've made this rant a couple of times here before, but while I've never seen it played, I have basically seen it really screw with people's lives. I imagine the quality of the game to be good, it is just the nature of the game that I hate. I really wasn't making any commentary on the game. I was just trying to find something to edit the post with, quick. Thinking back on it, AOL probably would've been better (if not nearly obsolete).

It's okay. I really wonder why people get that way sometimes. I think they're going through the same thing that a person driven to drugs or alcohol attempts. They want to distance themselves from the real world that gives them so much of issues they cannot deal with.
Of course, since it is merely a videogame being abused, anyone that attempts to investigate along these lines will go under constant criticism from gamers. And those idiots that blame games for all our lives problems will attempt to ban videogames for life. Because they don't have that ability to distance themselves from their own problems, so they push themselves into a cause they can never really achieve, just so that they feel they are working on something more significant then themselves.
That being said, yeah, warcraft really isn't all that great. A quest should not be a dungeon crawl to get the limbs of an animal. I want something original. I want a game with absolutely no required grinding.

I play Warcraft, I get the impression one of the few/only here who does. I've even been a 'raider' aka those who truely have no lives. Honestly what it comes down to is a cheap way to fill the void. Yeah I know, pay for play cheap sounds wrong, but it is.
I could play warcraft for.. far to many hours a day, for 12 bucks a month, or I could end up buying a new game/books/movies to fill up that void. I'm not someone who Only does that. I know people like that, they're the same people who'd be addicted to slots, poker, or other gambling kind of things. Or who'd race cars into walls. Its addictive, a lot of things are, whether your hooking on a video game, eating disorder, gambling, or drugs. Warcraft beats a meth addiction, and its almost as fulfilling(I still remember the sheer unadulterated joy of my first epic in a 40man instance..).
Warcrafts big thing is that its the largest of this sort of game, as of yet at least. It has more players active then most have ever even had sign up. Its reached new genres of people who'd never even played a video game before and gotten them into it. Part of this is just the sheer diversity of options, not to mention great market and consistent if cartoony graphics. Yeah its not the best, or prettiest, but its stable.
I used to play muds.. I miss my simple text interface, and whole 100-200 people population server. I still remember 30 people online in a game at once being Huge! (Yes I was on a smaller mud, I tried larger ones but didn't like them as much.) They were awesome, free, and only geeks or the girlfriends of geeks played on them, now you have something even little old ladies who don't leave the house except to go to the doctors can play.

Oh I use to play Wow, but I had to stop a year ago because I cannot afford the monthly subscription. But back in the day I converted a few people into playing WoW and use to have bad dreams about Dwarfs and Gnomes. For the Horde! However, I still had a life, even logged out when my dealer dropped by since she hated the game.Asherian wrote:I play Warcraft, I get the impression one of the few/only here who does. One of the better reasons I've heard for someone to log out. heh, I'm horde too(Now I was alliance but I've learned my lesson.) way better. I dunno, I've quit but never for very long, right now I'm server hopping a lot and not really getting into one character to much.. so it might be coming, we'll see.wolf wrote:[I still had a life, even logged out when my dealer dropped by since she hated the game.

Server hopping eh? Now are you a normal server, RP server or PvP server? I use to play on BlackDragonFlight (that's right, over a year and I still remember my server) so make a character there then pay for my subscription and we'll grind together.
Oh and don't go allie. I mean what are you a 12 year old? "Dur I'm going to be a gud guy! I'm going to be a god damn gnome rogue! LULZ!!!1!!!'" Stupid gnomes.

I played WoW for like two weeks and got bored. I played Warhammer: Age of Reckoning for about two months and got bored. I need a game that can keep my attention and I fear that game isn't coming. Which is why I'm working on making it. I've got a crack team of two programmers (and myself), a guy who works with servers, and an artist. Expect it to hit shelves sometime next century! (Unless we get serious on it, recruit some more people, get some real help, then maybe a few years)
