Resident Evil 5

So, it appears as if it is going to be an amazing game. It's obviously very similar to RE4, but eh, that isn't a bad thing. Anyone else played the demo yet?

Yeah, the game is amazing so far. I'd really like to play it online with a buddy helping me though. I think that is where the game will shine the most, like Left 4 Dead.

I'd rather have one of my roommates right next to me. Don't have to deal with the hassle known as Charter Internet.

One of my college roomates was a huge fan of the series. Half the time we'd end up playing them as a committee.

GUYS, the game is out. Anyone buy it yet? Any thoughts?

I'll probably shell out and buy it simply because I liked RE4 so much, but I'm still pondering it.

i just beat this. at the start of each chapter you go to a screen that lets you buy and upgrade weapons. you can play the same chapter over and over to get a good supply of health and ammo. thats a good idea to because albert wesker is a pain. graphics look awesome. its got the old style of only having 9 item slots unlike having a case like in re 4. you will play this and in no time 5 hours will pass. its got a new set of weapons which is good. you can upgrade them like in 4 and after you upgrade a set weapon to max, a new one will be available to buy. gold is tricky to get. good thing you can play over and over again. i have played chapter 2 - 1 threw the second checkpoint like 50 times so far.

i have been playing it for the last 5 hours. night.

Dag nammit! Why is it that all the games about slaughtering zombies come out when I have no job? Oh well, I'll just have to stick up the local games store again. It's takes guts to stick it up once, balls to stick up the same place again and something else entirely to stick up the same place 300 times.

My guess? An incredible amount of stamina. If you know what I mean.

No zombies.

Its the people from 4. Even the big guy with the mini gun. You have to fight 2 of them at once in the last part of the game.

Doesn't that kind of take away from the challenge a bit though? I mean think about it when the first RE came out you were pretty limited in terms of items and it made people learn to play better because they would keep running out of items otherwise. I don't disagree with the store implementation (I liked it in RE 4) but I can't really agree with being able to farm levels to get the shit you need to make the game easier

If you play on amature then yes. If you play professional, then its hard because you only get like 1 out of every 7 with a drop. The worst part is your stupid partner has to shoot every thing in site even you. She eats up more ammo then one would think. I would stab them with my knife but by the time i get it out she has shot them like 5 times.

Oh come on, RE4 was incredibly easy and you NEVER had to worry about ammo. How is this so different? Even easy games can be a ton of fun. The earlier ones were tougher but they were totally different games.

On this one, you have a partner. In attack mode, she runs ahead and is hit by every enemy until she dies. In cover mode, she has to put three or four bullets into the enemy and waste ammo. There are even times she will stand behind you and shoot. You can waste ammo or waste health. You chose. There was one time that she ran ahead and into the arms of this bug who cut her into peaces and I lost like 500 points for that. Points are used to buy stuff. You can buy figurines or extra costumes or infinite ammo for weapons you have fully upgraded.

The aim system and camera view is the one used in 4. The guns also have the laser site.

The hardest part about the old ones were the stupid hard puzzles, that gave you next to no clues sometimes and the awful controls. Those aren't what should make a game difficult.

I always hated the controls and camera angles of the older RE games. Non of them really seemed all that hard to me though. I would have to say one of the better ones was RE: Code Veronica X It tried to use different camera effects to ease the pain of fixed camera angles 100% of the time and had different locales and decent weapons.

You are right in saying that RE: 4 is in a different class of it's own because it seems like more of an action game than a survival game. As you posted there is plenty of guns and ammo along with healing supplies but there are also plenty more enemies you have to kill in RE: 4 than in the previous games. I've always had mixed feelings about the transition but I enjoyed RE: 4 when I played through.

The two things that irk me in RE: 5 is the replayable chapters, and the co-op. I laready stated why I dont like the former, the co-op shouldnt be in there because to me RE is all about being alone against a bunch of zombies (or parasites >_> ) and you need to survive and get the fuck out of dodge. Now you constantly have a buddy with you. I understand that the idea of playing RE online with a friend is an exciting one but I still feel that RE should be a solo experience.
