Drakken's First Impressions: Nintendo DSi.

Hello, I'm Drakken, and you are you.
Today's topic is Nintendo's newest incarnation of their popular portable gaming device, the DSi (yes, I am spelling it correctly.)
Before I get into the nitty gritty, let's not forget that there have already been 2 versions of the DS beforehand, the DS lite and what I affectionately call the DS Phat. Why Nintendo thought a new rehash was nessecary is beyond me.
It doesnt even look that differant. it's essencially a DS lite with 2 cameras (one on the front of the console, the other on the inside, to solve the problem of awkward camera angles.), better wi-fi capabilities, and a download channel much like the wii with it's highly successful virtual console channel. I am personally disappointed that they removed the GBA slot, because now not only do you need a seperate console for GBA games, you also have no slot for rumble packs or the guitar hero app.
Now, what are the specs on the console? Here is some delicious copypasta from wikipedia:
CPUs: The main CPU is an ARM processor clocked at 133 MHz.
RAM: 16 MB of RAM (four times more than previous models)
Storage: 256 MB of internal Flash memory with an SD/SDHC card expansion slot
Wireless: 802.11 internal wireless connectivity
There is also a list of games and applications for the hardware listed over hnaw :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DS ... plications
overall, it seems like an okay upgrade, but why Nintendo doesnt save this for a brand new console baffles me.
I doubt that I will end up buying one. Im still happy with my ds lite.
but a ds that can take on the Iphone does seem like an interesting concept.
thats all for now.
happy gaming!
