I assume you're color-blind. You're color-blind right? Ok, good. Now I don't feel as confused.

That's blue-black colour-blindness. The entire forum looks like one solid colour, except for the smilies on the side.

I've known a rather large contingent of colour-blind people. I don't know the percentage of population with colour-blindness, but I do know that these people usually get asked really stupid questions about it. So they are usually refreshed to know someone who knows something about it.
My roomate (and friend for a long, long time) has it, hence my initial experience of it.
Then the lighting guy at my university has it. I'm not entirely sure how he managed to get as far as he has doing lighting while being colour-blind, but nonetheless. He always had to know the colour codes of each set of gels, because he didn't know the colours by looking. I guess he really just had a very good head-knowledge of the subject.
And then one of my coworkers at Walmart did as well. When we would go stock particular colour-coded items (such as the different scents of Tide), I'd initially forget, but then realize that I couldn't just say "the purple one" but had to say "lavender spring" or whatever.

I've only known one color-blind person, but it was especially sucky for him because we were in Graphic Design together. I'd help him out by telling him what color he was using.

To make it all clear. I am not colour blind, for some reason, at work, the links sometimes disappear. Now that I am at home, I see the links and feel quite stupid. I would also like to thank you for rubbing said stupidity in my face for several posts, it gave the wife quite a laugh. I hope you all develop hemorrhoids and they get infected.

Side note: I don't think I have ever known anyone who is colour blind. Weird.

I would guess that you have and it's just never come up in conversation. That's happened to me a couple times.

In high school one of the chemistry technicians was colour blind so he couldn't do colour tests for chemicals.

I know a few colour-blind people, and it almost never comes up. My grandfather's colour-blind but it doesn't matter because he's nearly blind and he can't pass it on.

It sounds to me like a lab assistant or teacher's assistant in your typical university setting. I know what you mean, anyways.

Neither did our guy*.

*That's a lie, our chem teacher was one of the best in the school. He also let us handle extremely dangerous things, which was always fun. A year later, most of my friends are studying life sci and they're all complaining about how many safety rules they have to put up with.

I've known a few colour blind people in my time, including my grade 8 band teacher, a few guys I went to high school with and my current roommate. Usually they can see a bit of colour, but not the right ones, or anything involving reds. Full on colour blindness is actually pretty rare.
