I think it counts for something to say you are kinda a virgin if you don't have regular sex. If you give a dude a handjob, does that take away your virginity? I would say yes, but it is dinstinguishable from fucking the normal way.

Historically for a male, he lost his virginity whenever he had a good enough story to be believed by his peers, regardless of whether the was any physical contact with another human/animal/privit shrub.
