Ideas for a book or movie that hasn't been made yet

Post by Surprise Erection »

I thought I would kick off the thread with one of my own ideas. One of which is: the president receives death threats from an anonymous person. That person making death threats and trying to blackmail him, unbeknownst to the president himself, is really the president's own teenage son, who has a grudge against his father for ruining his life when be was elected president, ie becoming the most powerful person in the world can cause your family to be somewhat sheltered because of the uptight security, not really having the right to free will, not being able to go out with friends without having the secret service on your back the whole day, other personal problems, including not having his father there for him almost ever, etc

I know the plot seems flawed and somewhat contrived. I'm open to any suggestions that would improve the main idea. So feel free to add or adjust what you would deem necessary to make it more solid :)
The hardest surprise....ever.

Idea I came up with two days ago,

Basic premiss: Magic and murder investigation combined. Where science is replaced with magic, and to discover the reason behind the heinous crimes of this overly large (yet medieval) town one must employ some of the latest spells, sheer awesome personality, and psychological manipulation.

It will not include dragons, and curses and all of that. Magic will be this precise hard to obtain (must actually study) skill which is almost useless in any real encounter.

Because it will it cover about 90% of all current TV shows by using magic and criminal investigation I believe this show will beat all others.

p.s. I need to think this out more to make it sound better, but it will be awesome. (awesomely tacky but still awesome)

Before Harry Potter 7 came out, I had the idea to make a novelisation of Resident Evil 4, switch all of the names to Harry Potter Characters, and leak it online.

I like this idea. Why didn't you do it? If you had charged money for it, you could have made a mint. It would have been awesome.

I don't think you can charge money for something like that...

Idea (semi-stolen from south park): Man with infinite wisdom (like he's omnipotent or something) makes a public announcement to the world: he'll answer any 50 questions that people can come up with. The world erupts into chaos over what to ask the man; fighting breaks out across the world. Eventually, someone or some entity (like a government or something) believes that the knowledge the man might bestow on the world is too dangerous; he/she/it kills the man. With his dying breath the wise man mourns for the loss of the knowledge. The rest of the world turns against the person/thing that killed the man, eventually killing/destroying the person/entity. They realize the folly of their actions, but it's too late. They missed the opportunity for the knowledge and caused many pointless deaths. If only the world had worked together...

For some strange reason this reminds me of the David Bowie song, Savior Machine. There is no real logical connection, it just reminds me of it. It also reminds me of Homer in the Simpsons episode where Apu looses the Quick-E-Mart. "Are you sure your the...?"*

Your book/movie has potential, but it's potential is squished because it points out how much people suck and on the whole people don't like to know that. Also... how do they know he has all the answers? Wouldn't he have to give one or two away to prove it first? Sort of like showing up "I'm the son of god." No one actually believes you until you prove it.

Oh... I have an idea (ignore as you will). What if, through the course of the show/book he actually answers fifty questions? Just inadvertently. People trying to save him, people trying to kill him, he just answers whatever's asked of him. So it their trying to get through a door with a code someone says "damn it what is the keycode?" and low and behold he answers. Because... if he knows all the answers wouldn't he also know how many answers he'll have time to give? Or am I over-thinking it? I do have a tendency to over-think things.

And, if you have him die, which is cool, have a whole lot of his answers become relevant after his death.

But I guess that all defeats the whole 'we failed as humanity to utalise this resource' moral. Give me time, I'll weave that in there somehow. I am the master of bullshit.

I guess they know because over time he has allowed individual people to ask him questions, although he doesn't always answer them. For example if someone asked him the lottery numbers or what is the meaning of life, the first one would be a greedy question, and the second would be too important for that person to know.

So there's a limitation to what he'll answer? He sounds like a con artist to me.

The answers he does give are always right and/or the wisest choice.

I've heard weirder hobbies.

Also, he's above letting other peoples' opinions bother him. Because he knows so much, he can't help but feel that it's pointless to get angry over a small insult.

I've always thought that that was a bit of crockpot. If something's that important, then shouldn't I know it? It's not like you'll get it better by not knowing what it is.
