Gracias, that's it... The whole point is that the answer can't be known at the same time as the question, as this would cause the universe to be destroyed or something.

Well, the universe would disappear and be replaced by something stranger. Although of course, some people think this has already happened.

Which is what I assumed happened at the end of Mostly Harmless. I say assumed, because recent re-readings seem to potentially negate that. It just seemed to me that bird HHGTTG could very well have brought destruction on the universe.

You are free to do so. But you are wrong. My page is better. In fact, it's even quantifiably better - it has more words, and ergo must be better.

Quantity=quality

edit: actually, I went back and read your page, and that's weird - it differs from my version of the book (it's the same as Mountainmage's).Apparently the same book had different text in different editions? Though of course, mine is the correct one.

I'm flying to Colorado in a month, I think my Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy book might have to join me on the flight.

My guess would be British vs American versions. Usually when a book comes out in British it must be translated into American before it can be sold there.

I suppose that's possible. MIne's an American edition that combines the first four together along with a short story - it's collectively called "The More Than Complete Hitchhiker's Guide" and I feel it is pretty authoritative. But the difference we found is reasonably substantial, not merely adapting to the different dialects, so I don't know.

Different editions perhaps?

Sometimes localisation differences can be pretty hardcore; it's not just translating and rendering it in the correct dialect. Then again I'm not sure what these differences are yet (I can't even find that part in my own book, it's been so long since I've read them).

Not quite. I didn't realize Kimra had photoshopped something.

But now we shall cease speaking of this and never discuss it again.
