You should put the spoiler alert outside of the spoiler text.

I don't know, I haven't even bothered to look up what you're talking about.

So I finally got around to watching an episode of this. It was on CTV not CBC like BBC shows usually are, which is unfortunate because they cut out some of the scenes for commercials.

I'd say it was an alright show, something I would watch if it was on, but not on a regular basis. It was a bit predictable, and it didn't really give me any reason to want to watch more.

See that feeling your got from one episode with some of the crap cut out? That's what the whole thing feels like.

I enjoy it, but don't go out of my way to watch it. It is pretty good for eye candy, but it seems like every week there is either some new magical creature threatening the kingdom, or an evil magician, or Merlin in danger of being discovered... Spoiler: I also found it weird that they changed some things, like Mordred being some random kid, instead of the result of an accidental incestuous liason between Arthur and Morgana. I'm confused, are they still half siblings in this show??

It would appear not. *shrugs* but who knows.

But Arthur is good eye-candy. Merlin is... not.

Hey Merlin's not bad, once you get over his jug-ears of course. And you can't leave out Lancelot.

Lancelot has a grand total of one episode. He has a weak character that is easily swayed by a stupid plan. How can one go on about honour and crap and then a second later go 'oh yeah okay lets do that instead'. I'm all for everyone can be a knight, because it's more fun that way, but he went about his stupid the wrong way.

Merlin... fails. I have a tendency when making unrealistic attachments to fictional characters to form them based on personality rather than looks (though looks help), and Merlin is the epicenter of everything I find wrong with the series. At least Arthur is just an idiot on the occasions. He is otherwise nice and helpful and oh so charismatic, and I think Merlin doesn't trust him as much as he should. *hugs to Arthur*

BUT HE WAS HOT.

I agree with you though, not the strongest premise to base a show on. Although I sometimes get annoyed with Arthur cos it seems every episode Merlin tries to convince him of some danger or something, Arthur either dismisses it, or ignores it so he can prove to his Dad that he's brave, and then Merlin is proved right at the end of the episode. When will you learn, Arthur, WHEN!?

I think it's very interesting to have a show that is based around a supporting character. I feel like the real show is about Arthur and we've just got sub-plot and plot mixed round time-wise.

This is, I admit, one of the most intriguing things about the show. But as Shoe pointed out, Arthur is a bit of a dick, so if he was the main character at this point in time we would all hate the show, no questions.*

To answer your question Shoe: Never. He will never learn. Because the show isn't about progression, it's about repetition, and learning is a form of progression.

*ah crap, I just realised my biggest problem with a huge story I wrote. People want to like the main character. Damn.
