Let me get this straight. Steam is free, but you pay to download the game itself, right? I already know you can log in from anywhere and your library follows you, which is nice.

With Portal 2 coming out they could have used the hype for boost sales of the first game, but instead they are giving away the first game to boost hype for the second game! That is awesome.

One last question. Does these games have multiple save files, so I could play and progress seperately from my younger brother, or is that against TOA/TOS/ etc? I'm definately downloading portal. I thought it was just free for macs.

Portal is free until the 24th. It was pretty fun and I like the atmosphere but honestly for three hours of gameplay I'm not buying it.

It's fun but short. Frankly I'm still waiting for them to finish episode 3 of Half-Life 2, kind of pissed that they distracted themselves with 3 new games without finishing it.
