Left 4 Dead 2

Post by freako104 »

More of the same from Left 4 Dead though more zombies, and some special types (clowns in amusment park for example). The melee weapons are a lot of fun especially the frying pan. Not much in terms of storyline though.

I'll get it when it drops to $20 or maybe when Steam eventually puts it on sale one day for 10 or something.

Yeah, I'm probably going to wait until the price comes down a bit. In the meantime I'll just have to be satisfied with the first L4D and Zombie Panic! Source at my disposal.

I was not impressed by the demo.

I liked the "There are Zombies, Run For it" section, but that was the only new feature that actually seemed like an improvement. I mean, jars of boomer bile? Guitars that magically turn into pistols when you get knocked over? Daylight?

It's my opinion that they pretty much got it right the first time.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

See, with nintendo, I'm used to waiting 4 or 5 years for a sequel. But then at least things will be different.
I know people say all you do is find the three magic things, kill the 6 evil monsters then get master sword and own, but the puzzles are never repeated, even with the same setting. The only time they repeat things is like the lost woods, and even then each time it is unique. In Ocarina of Time as a child you had to listen for the music to guide you as a child, and then halfway through the game you had to REMEMBER it because an adult couldn't hear the music (even though the story of zelda says the pointy ears could hear the gods. Kinda wierd for a hylian. I mean, anyone else might have had the problem but not link. I mean it-WHOOPS FANBOY.)
And in oracle of seasons it was much briefer and had a different kind of puzzle where you needed to control the season as well as the direction, making it much more difficult to simply guess.

They don't need to make those kinds of innovations. You are lucky just to get a series that began innovative, because often the numbers aren't enough. Maramusa was considered an epic for the Wii but it didn't profit because they made it TOO good.

tl;dr: The relatively shorter amount of time between releases means you just rehash the same game with a single new feature because it's good enough, except not unique anymore.
Just like an std, will never fully go away.

You know I bought and played Twilight Princess, and, actually, it's kind of tedious. I liked Wind Waker more than this one (admittedly, I take the controversial position of liking Wind Waker).

I liked it too. I also said WTF at the graphics but it was a big deal. Link would look at the areas you had to go, so his eyes needed to be anime-ish. Little things like that. I never finished TP. Lost the CD, but got too far to want to buy it (was gift) and not far enough to want to beat it on principal.

But Windwaker was awesome. I prefer Twilight Princess personally but I liked almost all Zelda games. Only one I didn't care for was Majora's Mask

You like Zelda games, but you didn't like Majora's Mask? I'm...flabbergasted, to say the least.
