The only voice I have in my head is my own. I don't quite grasp the concept, really. I don't really think in other "voices" at all. Occasionally accents, if I'd recently been exposed to one, and I'm working it out. But even then it is me in accent.

I don't do it all the time, just when I'm reading everyone's posts in my head.

But even that I don't do. I just read it. I can't imagine putting it into voices. I guess I kind of do it when reading books?

Yeah, I do it with books too. Otherwise it would get boring having everyone using my voice, even the women.

I've never really thought of this before. I don't know if I would call it a "different voice". But something in my head does distinguish in some way.
I guess my point is that I couldn't recreate, vocally, the voices I give characters and suchlike. But there is something there.

It started with books for me as well. But now everything I read is not my own voice in my head, unless I wrote it.

Right. I couldn't exactly replicate the voices I imagine, but I can hear them clearly in my head. I base them off the character (or person, in the case of the forum) and their personality/age/other factors.

I'm still not at all concious about it, though. I think I do it. I assume I do it. But only for books. However, it is still difficult for me to wrap my head around, because I don't actually know that I do it, or whathaveyou.

It's only natural. You're the only one with your voice, so your mind creates them for you.

I usually read things, except for my own writing, in a slightly different voice than my own. Other than that I only give them more unique voices when I'm reading books 'n such, or someone just writes really weird on a forum and I distinguish them with a different voice.

Everything sounds better in my head. Like, reading poetry or posts or books, I read things the way I would like to speak them, but it sounds stupid when I actually talk. In my head, I can perfectly create characters and read scripts and stuff, then when I speak out loud I hate everything. Sometimes I get songs in my head that don't exist and it's frustrating that I can't sing them or whatever. I wish I could make my voice as it sounds when I think, but, woe is me, I cannot.

That's strange because I have an awesome speaking voice. Sometimes I make money reading aloud. (It's like busking, but I read from books)

I don't know what you're up to but, if I recall the posters up on campus, "drunk means no."

Everything I read or think I hear in the same slow, dull monotone. It doesn't sound anything like I speak, or much like how anyone speaks at all.

I've never made money from it, but I too have a great speaking voice (and pretty decent singing, too). I've had compliments from complete strangers on both.

Perhaps this is why you dislike reading so much?
