I will probably post more as they occur to me, off the top of my head: Antipenultimate,* lacuna, yonic,* defenestrate, doyle,* philtrum,* tittle

*Which is spelt correctly, thank you very much Internet spell checker.

I find the idea of having a favourite word absurd. It's absurd as a turd, the most absurd I've heard. The root of two is a surd. Mr Oizo is a bird.

I've always loved usurp/usurpation.
Also, masturbatory (though not in the sense of "relating to masturbation" but in the sense of "self-aggrandizing").
That's all I can think of at present.

Smiley used stringent in one of her posts and I really like that word
Also I really like the word philtrum I'm gonna have to visit this thread often and read that word so I can remember it it's really cute thanks for those words Smiley.

Everyone on this forum is so verbose I love it I need to be more active about looking up the words for their exact definitions and stuff so I can remember 'em better and use 'em more.

feng, we're not verbose.

you only think we are because you hang out on tumblr where a metaphor is a picture of a sexy teen getting raped

http://www.myfavoriteword.com/ has some pretty neat ones.
I can't really think of any favorite words of my own at the moment. I've always had a hard time picking favorites.
Although I've always found 'eviscerate' to be particularly evocative. It creeps me out.
Um, 'scintillating' is nice. And I like words that have an 'ae' in them, especially on the end. It's just aesthetically pleasing to me for some reason.

I used scintillating today! Love that word!

Also in the vein of eviscerate

visceral is the way one of my friends described a lot of movies. and things. he really liked the word and overused it but yes it is a gooooood word!

Ah yeah, if you overuse any word it can lose its shine.
I really haven't seen that many movies I could describe as 'visceral.' :O Maybe I'm just not watching the right movies.

You should do an anatomy course, visceral is used a lot

Popsicle is a bit favourite of mine. Say it aloud to yourself and realise how enjoyable those syllables really are. Canoodle is another favourite, as well as nefarious, fraught, superfluous (especially when you emphasise the purrrr sound) soliloquy, malevolent, existentially and sycophant. Also incendiary. Good word.

Today I used to the word forlorn, that's a gooder.

Also psychopomp, simulacrum, kismet, and 1920's slang like copacetic, lackadaisy, palooka, spifflicated, etc.
