Words represent ideas, and when I use words I take pleasure in expressing something as well as possible for that particular thing. Words are a tool to an end. Expressions are things you should have favourites of.

I don't know, words can be pretty aesthetically pleasing on their own. Like cellar door. It just sounds nice.

I honestly don't like cellar door that much. I prefer words with a lot of sonorants and certain fricatives ("soft sounds") like l, r, y, w, s, etc. My least favourite sounds are affricates (ex. "ch" and "j") and velar stops ("hard g" and k). I think preferences like these mark me as a linguist.

I like words that you can put a sort of rolling accent on, such as nefarious, eschewing, superlative (although after reading Atlas shrugged I have gone off the word superlative. She uses it on average once every ten pages and that is a frickin huge book)

Or, on the other hand, there are words that have pronunciation that screams offensive. Like the C-word. Regardless of all it's meaning/connotations/offensiveness, the sound of the word is just strikingly hard.

Well it isn't English but I really like the word kokosnoot (maybe not spelled right?). It means coconut in Swedish, and it is very fun to say.

Edit: I mean I think it's Swedish, but I could be wrong.

I only had words that I liked to use, but I speak to so few people and so irregularly that I have long since forgotten these words.

It's Dutch. According to Google Translate, the Swedish just call it 'kokos'.
And it's pronounced 'cocos-noet'. It's really a nice word, it can be used as a curse, even. Fucking kokosnoot! Yeah. I will use that today. The moment I wake up.

In English, I really liked 'pungent', but also French words used in English, like 'rendez-vous' and 'déjà vu'.
I also like 'b flat' because it sounds so much more like that actual tone than it's Dutch counterpart ('bes').

I am always really confused by French words that have come to mean something different in English than they did in French. Like à propos. I will think of other examples when it is not three in the morning.

Aw, I was misinformed.
Awesome, though! It can be a cuss word? I will totally start using it.
Next time we're on Skype, please say it correctly for me so I can repeat it.
