When you know that Salmon P. Chase was basically an anti-slavery fundamentalist and believer of the Southern conspiracy to oppose liberty, Abe Lincoln comes off looking like a bit of a jerk.

Because there are so many contexts in which pantsing someone is cool, kind, or gentlemanly?
Funny comic. Zach needs more of this, less of everything else.

Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that there isn't an invisible demon

If Neville Chamberlain had pantsed Hitler or Mussolini, the world would be a much different place.Gangler wrote:Because there are so many contexts in which pantsing someone is cool, kind, or gentlemanly?

It would have been much funnier if it were William H. Seward.

If only Bonhoeffer's plan to pants Hitler had come to fruition.Tom Largedick wrote:If Neville Chamberlain had pantsed Hitler or Mussolini, the world would be a much different place.Gangler wrote:Because there are so many contexts in which pantsing someone is cool, kind, or gentlemanly?

Man, that is the last time Lincoln pantses John Wilkes Booth!
Re: [2011-Sep-10] Great Epantsipator
So Americans had silly first names even then.
Seriously. "Salmon"?

Wow, I love that joke! When I shaved my mustache and still had a beard I looked like Abe. That was one of my cheezy pickup lines I used on at work for fun. I'd also stroll up to a girl, look her in the eye, and say "you ready for my southern invasion" in my sexy voice. I probably shoulda said something about my anaconda plan too... oh well.

I like this. I'm reading Doris Kearnes Goodwin's book, Team of Rivals, right now.
The way that Lincoln accepted Chase's 4th resignation (to Chase's surprise) was as follows: "You and I have reached a point of mutual embarrassment in our official relation which it seems cannot be overcome or longer sustained consistently with public service."
