Yeah, but before getting published it has to go through the editer.

Sorry to change the topic but check out panel 6! This is a type of eyeball that Zach should start using either way more often or always, imo!

What irony? He was deliberately referencing the name of the person he was replying to.

And this is what I get for not reading the previous page for context.

Rolled up is the new kind of papers, it's better trust me I was a paper boy once. It was not a fun job, because I wasn't allowed to throw the papers in the general direction of people's houses, I had to put them through their letter boxes.

Every time I saw an american style paper boy I got so jealous.

I would have thought that Superman would be able to publish the news himself, given that he works for the Daily Planet as a reporter and newscaster.

DCC wrote:I suppose in an ideal world, the headline would have been "Lex Luthor Convicted of Racism". With maybe some mention of the mass murder charges being added to his racism sentence.

"I've learned my lesson, Superman. Next time I poison a water supply, I'll make sure that it's not in a minority area."

For crying out loud, up til the last panel, the whole strip reads like a parody of "hate crime" laws.
That's the joke. It makes us think the comics going to be about making fun of misapplied accusations of racism, then surprises us with a joke about racism in reporting. We're not supposed to agree with Superman, we're supposed to be distracted by the absurdity of his argument so that the punchline actually surprises us. This use of misdirection and surprise is why this is the best SMBC I've seen in ages.
