[2011-Dec-13] Wrenches.

Not funny, but I liked it.
Simplistic and it makes a point well. Funny only in the way he drew it, I suppose.

Reminded me of lectures on Jacques Ellul, a Canadian political philosopher (kind of). Though I remember little of his stuff as it was over my head at the time, so I can't tell you exactly why I made the connection...

It's wonderful. (But the hands aren't much use without the head!)

That actually was really cool.

I do think about the future a lot lately, and the nature of evolution and life. I do believe now that if we invent sentient machines (whatever form they take), that it will essentially be the next step of evolution. I don't really think the extinction of humans necessarily precludes the end of intelligent life or of evolution.

Or maybe I drastically misinterpreted what this comic meant. Oops?

I worry about this sometimes.
I don't want humans to become obsolete.
I like humans.

(Also anthropomorphic crabs.)
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

I dunno, I've thought about it and I've come to accept it as a possibility. It's like the Holy Roman Empire, it lasted a thousand years but it still fell. These things can always happen. I try to make peace with them these days.

Simplest description of the Singularity that I've ever seen.

And I'm not entirely worried about it. If the events of the comic happen, it's possible humans will become obsolete - or rather, it's certain humans will become obsolete. But with a little luck and a lot of skill, we could end up with a "friendly" singularity, where whatever entity we happen to create still cares about humanity. The world would simply become better organized.

I admit I'm a bit dumb, is this about tools eventually building other tools?

It's about the evolution of human technology.

Does that help?

That's an interesting point of view Mr Luthor.

This.

Just extremely simple, funny (for who understands it), descriptive and intelligent.
My favourite smbc comic from now on.
