Ok, I read smbc daily and I have never before posted anything but my ling degree is finally coming in handy... I have a problem with the votey. There is no such thing as a "pictographic language," as pictographs typically transcend languages. Instead, a writing system that depends heavily on pictorial symbols can be described as "logographic." still, the actual language would be the spoken tongue and the writing system would accompany it...
