This is a point I've often wondered about when people claim that AIDS is proof homosexuality is wrong (though does anybody but Pat Robertson really say that anymore?).
If it proved anything about the morality of some kind of deity, AIDS would prove that God is either a bro, or a hardcore lesbian separatist feminist. (After all, lesbian sex is way safer for women than straight sex.)

Ha. I always had it in my head that Aids came from someone making sweet sweet love to monkeys. I wonder where I go that idea? And if it's right, clearly it's god's way of saying "leave the animals alone".

Aids is a disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus. It was probably originally transmitted to food handlers via ape meat.

That line from Leviticus is the one most frequently referenced by Christians to justify their opposition (in various forms) to homosexuality. It came up in a discussion over on the Richard Dawkins forums recently, and inspired me to dig into that sentence a little, try to understand what it’s really trying to say.
I was shocked, I tell you, absolutely shocked at what I discovered. But it’s all so clear now.
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman: it is an abomination.”
You, in this case, is not explicitly specified, so it has to be assumed that you refers to the reader, which could be a man or a woman (unless of course women shouldn’t be able to read… and while misogyny isn’t specifically a sin, we all know that the loving Christian God would never lower himself to such assumptions, right?) So for each reader of this rule, there are a limited number of possibilities:
The reader is male, in which case he clearly can’t lie with another male
The reader is female, in which case she clearly can’t lie with a male (read the passage again – it says so!) By logical extension, then, any sexual contact between male and female is also an abomination.
If the reader is female, Leviticus does not, however, impose any limits on your lying with another woman. Conclusion:
God loves him some hot girl-on-girl action.

Which part exactly is nonsense? While herpes, HPV, and bacterial vaginosis transmit just as easily from woman to woman as they do from man to woman, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, and chlymidia are much more difficult to transfer through lesbian sex, and HIV being transmitted through lesbian sex is so rare there's question as to if it's even possible. Of course, this doesn't prove lesbian sex is better or anything, just that the argument that AIDS "proves God thinks homosexuality is an abomination" is nonsensical in light of how relatively safe lesbian sex is.

Right on, Zach. It's amazing how many discussions about homosexuality completely ignore lesbianism - you'll hear people say things like "gay marriage shouldn't be allowed because gay couples are less monogamous than straight ones" (actually, men are just less monogamous than women - on average, lesbian relationships last longer and are more exclusive than straight ones) and "gay people tend to be pedophiles" (again, pedophilia among lesbians is almost unheard of.) It all goes back to the idea that lesbian sex doesn't really exist, because sex doesn't count if a dick doesn't get stuck into something. It drives me insane that so few people think to say, like the kid in the comic, "what about lesbians?"
