[2012-May-17] Discrizzle

Postby Oldrac the Chitinous » Thu May 17, 2012 4:46 am

I enjoyed this one. Heaven help me, I enjoyed this graph joke.

Even though the lack of focus on the reals is the main distinguishing feature of discrete math and I'm not convinced that "for reals" shows up in rap all that often either.
Police said they spent some time working out if they could charge the man with being armed with a weapon, as technically he was armed with part of a fish.

Those circles can be a lot closer. Like who actually uses venn diagrams?

I had a math teacher who once told me Venn diagrams were invented by Venn Dia.

Discrete Math doesn't work with the reals, because they're not discrete; they're continuous.

Yeah, usually Zach seems to know his math so he must be making a subtle joke. I've never read a discrete math paper that mentions the reals. I chalk it up to a bad joke rather than him not knowing what discrete math is.

To be fair in a lot of colleges set theory is covered in the introductory discrete math course in a lot of colleges.

But what about Spanish people in olden times? They used to work for reals....

...seriously? do people not understand venn diagrams? the only use of "for reals" is the INTERSECTION of rap and discrete math?

After thinking about this for a whole 20 seconds, I think I may have a solution.
