False. People are LESS likely to take something that is advertised as free, because there is always a subconscious suggestion of a catch.

For instance:

FREE (rotten) FIREWOOD
FREE (std-laden) SEX
FREE (bedbug-housing) MATTRESS
FREE (abridged) THESAURUS
