You made a typo. First bubble: "It's to bad..." s/b "It's too bad..." Grammar Nazi's unite!
Re: [2013-Sep-30] Hyper-fecund mega-nerds
But I thought 'to bad' is a verb. Like in spanish the verb: 'malar'
Re: [2013-Sep-30] Hyper-fecund mega-nerds
It works like this:
Imagine a dial like an old-school voltmeter, with a wobbly needle. Let's call it a "good-ometer".
On the left side is "Bad" and on the right side is "Good". When turned off, the needle points straight up.
When applied to the problem of "Stupid people breeding more than smart people", the "good-ometer" needle moves toward the left, i.e. toward bad, i.e. "to bad".
The speaker in the first panel is simply reading off the good-ometer held in her right hand, clipped by the bottom of the frame.

The "to" was an ironic choice, since the character was discussing the stupidity of other people without considering her own short-sightedness.
There. I used my English degree today. I can relax.

Oh, good. I thought I would be the only one to complain about the 'to'/'too' mistake.

I didn't make any typo, Zach did. Go tell him in the Zach Hotline: http://www.smbc-comics.com/smbcforum/vi ... ch+hotline Which he probably won't read, either.PastaPappa wrote:You made a typo. First bubble: "It's to bad..." s/b "It's too bad..." Grammar Nazi's unite!

We use it all the time in ecology classes.Astrogirl wrote:I learned a new word. Fecund. Zach is too leet to say fertile.
The fecundity of this population of Homo sapiens is low, likely a result of increased time spent at computers compared with other populations.
Continual disappointment is the spice of life.

And here I thought he did it on purpose. Trolling is a art, after all.

I thought it was to illustrate the character's stupidity?
Re: [2013-Sep-30] Hyper-fecund mega-nerds
Dear Zach, please don't give into the Grammar-istas. Revert to the original! Change it back to 'to'! I thought it was a subtle and hilarious way of making your point.
