This joke is only about 1000 years old.
Here is a joke I heard in the 70s:(normally told to a live audience)
Professor to some students:
"One day was walking down the beach and found a lantern.
When I rubbed the lantern A genie appeared and said: "Would you like to be the smartest person in the world, or the richest person in the world?"
Well, I always like learning, and being smart will allow me to do a many great things, so I wish to be the smartest man in the world.
"Done" says the genie.

students: well? what great things have you thought of?"
Professor: That I should have chosen the money.

So, no one hear is stealing. You people need to study some humor before getting your funny bone in a knot.

This one is kind of beyond dispute really, and I kind of prefer good cop dadaist cop.. ;)
Yep beyond dispute, shame upon both comics for ripping off every cop show ever, who rip off actual cops. When will the string of infringements end!?

Most if not all ideas that people come up with come from other people or works. Both the jokes could have come from a different joke, or zach's could have been unintentionally inspired by the other, or intentionally. I don't remember what point I was trying to make.

It is irresponsible for all these cartoonists to be using the same joke when there are tens, maybe hundreds of jokes out there yet to be discovered.

most people - "ha, that's funny, these jokes are slightly related. I guess it's probably because while varied, human experience is largely a shared one with uncountable similarities throughout"

you - "DIRECT CLONE, DIRECT CLONE. NO DIFFERENCES WHATSOEVER ZACH IS SUCH A FUCKING HACK"

Quick question: Why are we still discussing this issue? It's been satisfactorily explained that Zach didn't rip off someone else's joke, or conversely, if he did, every comedian has ripped off someone else to an extent since the beginning of jokes - so he's in the clear either way.

We're not still discussing the issue. You are mistaken.

I was reading this thread because I was thinking of joining the forum, and I have a question: why did one of the moderators get so butthurt when someone else used the gender-neutral pronoun "ze"? And a follow-up question: how much time did said moderator spend putting together their absurd, overly-long and bitterly condescending response to the use of said word?

Please advise.

I'd imagine that Ed took little to no time putting together the response. Despite being a moderator, his responses are usually quite to the point, even when admonishing.

Also, using the word 'butthurt' while complaining about the supposed lack of gender-neutrality might just count against your point.

I think you'll find that this is actually about ethics in games journalism. Stop being such an SJW, Lethal.

I actually had to look up what SJW stood for...
