He should have just used the too-common mispronunciation "enn rowt", and his device would have spelled it correctly.

True, but the driver is obviously too anal (and uppity?) about his grammar and spelling to even consider mispronouncing it wrong. Heaven forbid!

On a tangential note, I've heard that Stephen Hawking deliberately misspells some words when in conversation in order for his voice emulator to pronounce them the way he wants it to.

Yeah, Stephen Hawking's really miffed that his voice emulator doesn't have an English accent.
