"You kids do realize that incest is the designated means of procreation, right?"

Did you know the bible reference others besides Adam and Eve?

Genesis 4:15, Cain gets tossed out of Eden, and goes to Nod where he is afraid people will kill him. Which implies there are others.

of course, it's all allegory, and this comic is hilarious.

Genesis 5:4 allows for that. "And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters."

Conceivably (heh), kids, grandkids and so forth could grow into families, clans, tribes, whatever, and would move away so as to have space to grow. I'm two generations away from my grandmother's 11 brothers and sisters, and I couldn't identify any of their descendants by sight.

Oh no … that claim isn't true now, but must have been true at some point (if a hard cutoff for "people" even exists … and presumably not using the "Garden of Eden" origin model …), so now I feel compelled to estimate when that transition may have occurred!

If I am unable to suppress this motivation, it will require extensive anthropological and statistical review, so I guess I know how I'll be spending the next month.

Yeah, it's impossible to seriously read the Bible even as a literalist (which is impossible to truly do anyway because it contradicts itself) without arriving at the conclusion that there were other people besides Adam and Eve, outside the garden.
